Background

The following love story is told by Thomas Bulfinch (1796-1867) in his famous book Bulfinch’s Mythology: The Age of Chivalry or Legends of King Arthur. This classic romantic tragedy Tristram and Isoude fall in love before Tristram’s beloved uncle, King Mark, makes Isoude his queen. Tristram and Isoude make noble efforts to conceal their love and honor Isoude’s marriage to Mark.
