Mom’s Best Sugar Cookie Recipe
My mom is famous for her “melt-in-your-mouth” sugar cookies. She makes them every holiday (and for birthdays too!). These are a family favorite, and I hope that you and your family enjoy them as much as we do!
Ingredients:
Cookie: 3 cups flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup butter 2 eggs 1 cup sugar Frosting: 2 tablespoons hot water 1 tablespoon butter 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar sprinkles food coloring or other decorationsDirections:
Cookie: 1. Mix together flour, baking powder and soda. Cut in butter to look like cornmeal. 2. In a separate bowl, beat eggs. Add sugar and beat well. 3. Mix with flour mixture to create a dough then chill for at least one hour. 4. Roll out dough, and use cookie cutters to form shapes. 5. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, and bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes. Frosting: 1. Pour hot water over butter to melt it. 2. Add sugar, and blend with electric mixer until smooth. 3. Add additional water or sugar to the frosting to obtain the right consistency. 4. Spread frosting on the cookies once they are cool. 5. Add sprinkles or other decorations while the frosting is still wet.Other Options:
