Come Thou Long Expected Jesus

Enjoy this You Tube video with lyrics of “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus”:

This song was written in1745 by Charles Wesley and was later paired with the music titled “Hyfrydol” (good cheer) composed by Rowland Huw Prichard in 1830. Wesley wrote his hymn (and many others) without any particular tune – more like poetry. At the time, churches generally paired hymns with a handful of common tunes. You may notice that it took 85 years for this hymn, “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus,” to find its now familiar tune.
