Halloween Sugar Cookies Recipe

Halloween Sugar CookiesIngredients:

Cookie:
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup butter
2 eggs
1 cup sugar

Frosting:
2 tablespoons hot water
1 tablespoon butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
orange sprinkles
orange and green food coloring
ziploc bag for piping green frosting

Directions:

Cookie:
1. Mix together flour, powder and soda. Cut in butter to look like cornmeal.
2. In a separate bowl, beat eggs. Add sugar and beat well. Combine with flour mixture and chill for about an hour.
3. Roll out and cut out shapes.
4. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, and bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes.

Frosting:
1. Pour hot water over butter to melt it.
2. Add sugar, and blend with electric mixer until smooth.
3. Add additional water or sugar to the frosting to obtain the right consistency.
4. Color most of the frosting orange and a small amount green.
5. Spread the orange frosting on the cookies with a butter knife, and top with orange sprinkles.
6. Place green frosting in a small ziploc bag. Snip off a small corner and pipe onto the cookies as a stem.
