I hope you enjoy this summer season. I have posted some ideas on my Summer Fun page on Pinterest — though I have to admit that I hesitated to even create a Pinterest page because honestly, I don’t do much of anything creative in the summer. I try to spend lots of time outdoors and read whenever I get the chance!

I remind myself often that it is not my job to entertain my kids but to encourage them to be creative themselves. I remember making up all kinds of silly games with siblings, neighbors, and friends during my childhood summers, and maybe I have forgotten, but I don’t remember any parents trying to entertain us or come up with ideas for our play. I encourage you to read this article by my friend Wendy: “Let Them Be Bored.” Afterall, “boredom breeds brilliance,” so relax a bit this summer!
