Sir Orfeo and Heurodis

The History

The story of Orfeo and Heurodis is a retelling of an ancient Greek tale about Orpheus of Thrace who travelled to Hades to seek his dead bride Eurydice. By the 13th century, the story appears to have mixed with Celtic mythology and fairy folklore ultimately producing a classical medieval English version of the story — Sir Orfeo.
