Peeking Heart Shortbread Cookies Recipe

Peeking Heart Shortbread CookiesIngredients:

1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup raspberry preserves

Directions:

1. Cream together butter and powdered sugar until fluffy. Mix in almond extract.

2. Add flour and salt, and blend.

3. Cover and chill for about 1 hour.

4. Roll out dough. It helps to roll between two pieces of wax paper (image 1)

5. Cut into heart shapes. Cut a smaller heart out of the middle of every other one (image 2)

6. Bake for about 8 minutes at 400 degrees and allow to cool.

7. When cool, sprinkle powdered sugar on hearts that have a hole in the the middle (image 2).

8. Spread raspberry preserves on solid heart and top with sugar sprinked heart (image 3).
