Praline Pecans Recipe

These pecans are absolutely the best. They are delicious and are sure to disappear fast!  Note that this recipe is used in our “Telling the Christmas Story with Food” project.

The Best Praline Pecans for Christmas

I highly recommend that you use a candy thermometer when making this recipe. They only cost around $10 and help to ensure the right temperature for the consistency of any candy.

Here are the ingredients and directions for the best praline pecans:

Ingredients:

3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup light cream (or half and half)
2 T. butter
8 cups pecans

Directions:

1. Stir together sugars and cream in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

2. Continue cooking until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage (234 degrees). Stir only as necessary to prevent sticking on bottom and sides.

3. Remove from heat and add butter, but DO NOT STIR. Cool for about 20 minutes (to 150 degrees). Keep an eye on the temperature, because you don’t want the praline to harden to much.

4. Stir in pecans until they are all coated with sugar mixture. Pour onto aluminum foil.

5. Break into pieces when cool.
