Orange-o’-Lantern Recipe

My kids love carving oranges during the Halloween season. It is good practice for carving pumpkins (though oranges are much easier to carve), and you can fill them with orange sherbet, orange jello, or some other fun treat when you are done.

Orange-o'-LanternIngredients:

Oranges

Jumbo Pretzel Sticks (or Tootsie Rolls)

Orange Sherbet or Orange Jello

Directions:

1. Cut the top of the orange off and scoop out the insides.

2. Using a small carving tool (the same one you use for pumpkins) or a small knife, carve a face in the orange.

3. Cut a small hole in the top piece of the pumpkin and slide in a jumbo pretzel or a tootsie roll.

4. Fill your pumpkin with orange sherbet or orange jello. Note that the oranges can be frozen with sherbet inside until you are ready to serve.
