The below recipe incorporates the Valentine’s Day colors of red, pink, and white, as well as the symbol of the flower. Visit our Valentine’s Day Symbols page to learn more about the symbolism and meaning of colors and flowers for Valentine’s Day.

Valentine Cookie BouquetIngredients:

1 (18 oz) package cake mix (white, strawberry, chocolate, or red velvet)
3/4 cup butter, melted and cooled
1 large egg
2 tablespoons milk
Flower Shaped Cookie Cutter
Vases (or strong jumbo plastic cups)
Kabob Sticks
Gumdrops
Candy Filler
Ribbon

Directions:

1. In a large bowl mix cake mix, butter, egg and milk (do not over mix).
2. Shape dough in a ball, and chill for about 2 hours.
3. Roll on a floured surface to 1/8″ thickness, and cut out flowered shapes with a cookie cutter. Use a straw to make a hole in the center.
4. Place on a cookie sheet, and bake at 375 degrees for 6-10 (remove before edges begin to brown).
5. As cookies cool, prepare the vases. Wrap playdough (or other heavy Styrofoam) in wax paper, and place in vases.
6. When cookies are cool, place a gum drop (flat side facing up) on a kabob stick. Put on the cookie, and then top with another gum drop (flat side facing down).
7. Arrange flower kabobs in vases, fill the cup with candy, and tie a bow on the vase.
